Paschen Projects Receive Recognition at CBC Merit Awards
Four Paschen projects were finalists at the 57th Annual Chicago Building Congress 2013 Merit Awards on May 15th, with one taking home the granite cornerstone Merit Award.
The Public Building Commission’s 31st Street Harbor project won for the category of Infrastructure Construction. Paschen was part of the General Contracting team on this project with construction consisting of two breakwaters, a park, and modifications to an existing boat launch. The breakwater for the harbor perimeter is approximately 2,785 feet in length; the second is a 295 feet stub groin for protection into the harbor. Combined, the breakwaters were constructed with nearly 450,000 tons of stone. A new park was also constructed adjacent to the south side of the existing 31st Street Pier.
Paschen was recognized for three other projects as well. Also in the category of Infrastructure Construction: CTA Morgan Station and Wacker Drive Reconstruction/Congress Parkway Interchange Improvements and in the category of New Construction - Under $55 Million: UNO Galewood Charter School.
